Mr. Richard Earl "Tip" Caddy Sr., 88, of Greensboro, North Carolina, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Caddy was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Fred Dinsmore and Nannie MacFarland Caddy. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where he was a vestryman and junior and senior warden. Mr. Caddy graduated from the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Caddy served in WW II in the Army Air Corps. He was former boardman and president of American Brush and Broom Manufacturers, was a member of Starmount Country Club, where he was secretary and a board member, past president of the Greensboro Exchange Club and was exchangeite of the year , past president of the Hard Rock Coffee Club, a past president of Greensboro Lions Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the YBM Club, a member of the PTA, and was an avid tennis and golf player.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Erna Kief Caddy; his daughter, Carolyn Canup and her husband, John of Pfafftown; and son Richard Caddy Jr., and his wife, Nancy of Greensboro; sister Ruth Griffith of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandsons, James Caddy, Edward "Teddy" Caddy, Michael Canup, and Matthew Canup.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greensboro Lions Club, P.O. Box 29122, Greensboro, NC 27429, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St., Greensboro, NC 27401 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
